HP-UX - HBA

Description

This connector provides hardware status information for the fiber channel HBA cards on HP UX systems.

This connector supersedes:

enterprise[4] hardware[5] hp-ux[6] hpe[7]

Target

Typical platforms: HP 9000 HP Integrity HP SuperDome

Operating system: HP-UX

Prerequisites

Leverages: HP UX system commands (ioscan, fcmsutil)

Technology and protocols: Command Lines

This connector requires advanced privileges on the managed host for the commands below:

  • /usr/sbin/ioscan
  • /opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil

This connector therefore needs to run as root or you need to configure a privilege-escalation mechanism like sudo on the managed host to allow the monitoring account to run the commands listed above.

Sample of /etc/sudoers to allow the above commands to be run as root by the metricshub account:

metricshub ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/ioscan
metricshub ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil

Examples

CLI

metricshub HOSTNAME -t hp -c +HPUXHBA --ssh -u USER --sudo-command-list /usr/sbin/ioscan,/opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil

metricshub.yaml

            useSudoCommands: [ "/usr/sbin/ioscan", "/opt/fcms/bin/fcmsutil" ]

Connector Activation Criteria

The HP-UX - HBA connector will be automatically activated, and its status will be reported as OK if all the below criteria are met:

  • The command below succeeds on the monitored host
    • Command: /usr/sbin/ioscan -fnC fc
    • Output contains: /dev/ (regex)
