HP-UX - Disks Enterprise

Description

This connector provides hardware SCSI disks status information on HP-UX systems. Requires root privileges.

This connector is superseded by:

hardware[3] hp-ux[4] hpe[5]

Target

Typical platforms: HP 9000 HP Integrity HP SuperDome

Operating system: HP-UX

Prerequisites

Leverages: HP-UX system commands (pvdisplay, ioscan, etc.)

Technology and protocols: Command Lines

This connector requires advanced privileges on the managed host for the command below:

  • /usr/sbin/diskinfo

This connector therefore needs to run as root or you need to configure a privilege-escalation mechanism like sudo on the managed host to allow the monitoring account to run the command listed above.

Sample of /etc/sudoers to allow the above command to be run as root by the metricshub account:

metricshub ALL=(root) NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/diskinfo

Examples

CLI

metricshub HOSTNAME -t hp -c +HPUXDisk --ssh -u USER --sudo-command-list /usr/sbin/diskinfo

metricshub.yaml

          host.type: hp
connectors: [ +HPUXDisk ] # Optional, to load only this connector
        protocols:

            useSudoCommands: [ "/usr/sbin/diskinfo" ]

Connector Activation Criteria

The HP-UX - Disks connector will be automatically activated, and its status will be reported as OK if all the below criteria are met:

    • Command: if /bin/test ! -f /usr/bin/stm ; then /bin/echo "NO STM"; fi
    • Output contains: ^NO STM$ (regex)
  • The command below succeeds on the monitored host
    • Command: FIRSTRAWDEVICE=`/bin/ls /dev/rdsk|/bin/head -1`; /usr/sbin/diskinfo /dev/rdsk/$FIRSTRAWDEVICE
    • Output contains: ^SCSI describe of /dev/rdsk/ (regex)
