Hardware Dashboards

MetricsHub collects the hardware health and performance metrics as well as the sustainability KPIs of any server, storage system, or network switch available in your on-prem infrastructure and exposes the telemetry data in the Hardware Main (MetricsHub), Hardware Site (MetricsHub), and Hardware Host (MetricsHub) Helix dashboards.

Hardware Main (MetricsHub) Dashboard - Global overview of all monitored sites, infrastructure health, energy usage, and sustainability metrics

This section explains how to import these dashboards into BMC Helix.

Prerequisites

Before importing the Hardware dashboards in BMC Helix, ensure that you have properly configured the BMC Helix integration.

Importing the MetricsHub dashboards

  1. From the BMC Helix Portal, click the BMC Helix Dashboards tile

  2. Click the open icon next to Dashboards

    BMC Helix - Dashboards Page
  3. Click New in the top-right corner, then select Import from the dropdown menu

  4. Drag and drop the following files:

FileDescriptionUse Cases
Hardware Main (MetricsHub)Global overview of all monitored sites, infrastructure health, energy usage, and sustainability metrics
  • Monitor infrastructure health and detect hardware failures across all sites and hosts
  • Track and analyze energy consumption, costs, and carbon emissions across the entire IT infrastructure
  • Identify top energy consumers to optimize resource usage
  • Analyze site characteristics (PUE, temperature, CO2 intensity) to improve operational efficiency
  • Detect overheating risks and maintain optimal operating conditions
  • Track performance, costs, and sustainability progress over time
Hardware Site (MetricsHub)Detailed view of a specific site (data center or server room) and its monitored hosts
  • Monitor site health and detect hardware failures across all hosts
  • Track and analyze energy consumption, costs, and carbon emissions at the site level
  • Investigate active events and identify impacted hosts and components
  • Analyze resource usage and infrastructure characteristics (CPU, storage, network, PUE)
  • Identify top consuming hosts and optimize energy usage across the site
  • Optimize site temperature using heating margin insights and recommended thresholds
  • Estimate potential energy savings and CO2 reduction through temperature optimization
  • Monitor host status, connectivity, and data collection coverage across the site
  • Track energy consumption trends over time to support operational and sustainability decisions
Hardware Host (MetricsHub)Detailed view of a specific host and its internal components, performance, and energy footprint
  • Monitor host health and detect hardware failures across internal components (CPU, memory, disks, network, power, cooling)
  • Investigate alerts and analyze protocol performance and availability
  • Track and analyze power consumption, costs, and carbon emissions at the host level
  • Analyze device status and identify failing or at-risk components
  • Monitor thermal conditions and fan performance to detect overheating risks
  • Analyze network performance, traffic, and error rates
  • Monitor CPU, voltage, battery, and disk health metrics to ensure optimal performance
  • Verify monitoring coverage, connector status, and data collection reliability
  • Track host performance and energy trends over time
